Time

Enjoying nature, Mount Baker

I have been thinking a lot about time recently.  With the days passing us by so quickly, turning into months and soon years before we know it.  It seems that time is speeding up somehow and I am feeling left behind.  Advances in technology are evolving ever faster and the species of our planet are becoming extinct right before our eyes.  It is such a crazy time to be alive.  I guess that’s why I am so grateful for each moment, every day that I get to live on this amazing planet, yet I get frustrated knowing that even though I am living as thoughtfully as possible, that may not be enough when it comes to preserving the planet for future generations.  I don’t like to think that my niece and nephew might only get to read about certain species as having been around just a decade ago.  With time humming along without a care in the world about the people or their day to day lives, I hope that we can get our act together quickly before it’s too late.  Have you ever felt this way?  You’re not alone.  Luckily, we do still have time.  Time is on our side.  People are waking up and wiping the sleep from their eyes to discover that we have something amazing here and if we mess it up, we may not get a second chance.  It brings me hope to see so many people trying to do their part because it is only through the actions of all of us individually that we can come together as a whole to save the species that live on this planet, including us!

This is one of my favorite quotes by Margaret Mead: “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful committed individuals can change the world.  In fact, it’s the only thing that ever has.”
